Tarifa & Puerto Banus

We headed to Estepona to see Gerry & Mike. The plan was to spend the Sunday on the beautiful sandy beaches of Tarifa. Saturday evening was spent having a lovely dinner at the Chinese on the marina.

Tarifa Gateway

Sunday and the weather looked a bit dodgy. Not deterred we headed for Tarifa. Tarifa is famous for its sandy beaches and surf. The nearer we got the worse the weather turned. Typical. We decided to have a coffee in town and see what happened. The Moorish influence is evident in the town. The gateway is a classic example of this. The modern influence is definitely down to the surfers. Where most towns on the costas have too many estate agents, Tarifa's equivalent is the surf shack. They are everywhere.

With the weather seeming to improve we headed for the beach. The kite surfers were out, but not many soaking up the sun. That's probably because it was more likely to rain than clear. 30 minutes on the beach and we packed up for an unscheduled trip to Puerto Banus.

Puerta Banus

Puerto Banus is definitely a "Bling Bling" place. The marina is amply stocked with fine yachts and designer stores. Nothing cheap about this place. Including the fish & chips, 11.50 Euros. But that's nothing compared to the price of water. 4 small bottles of Lanjaron, 14 Euros!

Nice Car.

The yachts were not the only nice things to look at. The port was swarming with shinny new motors. Your usual Mercedes, BMW and 4x4's were here along with 8 Ferrari's, a couple of Aston Martins and a Rolls Royce. Playground for the rich. The famous? Not sure but I swore I saw Curly Watts pushing a pram past that Ferrari I was taking a photo of.

Surely not Curly's motor!
