A typical morning after. Missed the breakfast again. Monica does like her sleep after a big night out. So just before check out time we met the others in Reception. Carlos was there feeling hungry, he had missed out on breakfast too. Time to find a cafe in Greenford.
Alas, the sleepy London suburb had nothing to offer. Luckily, we were going back into London with choices a plenty. Carlos suggested a stop at Notting hill. Bound to find something there. Just outside Kensington Palace was our breakfast place, Cafe Diana. The place was covered wall to wall with photos of Diana. Apparently it was a favourite place for all the paparazzi to wait for Diana leaving the palace. Diana didn't seem to mind. She is pictured inside the cafe with the owners.
Still hungover and in need of more sleep, we headed back to the hotel. Carlos decided to have a power nap there too before we headed out for more sight seeing in London. The Carlos tour of London was a bracing walk along the South Bank. A quick coffee at the British Film Institute cafe where the automatic doors opened every 2 seconds to give us a quick icy blast from the Thames.
From here it became a bus tour. A more pleasant way to travel around than the tube and it is included in the price of the day travel ticket. Our guide appeared to know every bus number and route so no need to worry about getting the wrong one. We made a quick stop at St Pancras, the new station for the Eurostar. It is home to Europe's longest champagne bar, at over 90 metres long, which runs parallel to the Eurostar platform on the upper level.
It wasn't champagne for us as Monica decided to take us to one of her favourite haunts in Soho, the renowned "Dutch Pub". "De Hems" is located at the Chinatown gates and is a cracking atmospheric boozer with a large selection of Dutch and Belgian beers and friendly staff.
After a swift pint and a little warm we decided to find Monica's favourite pizza place. Unfortunately it is no longer in business. Well, Monica would not admit that she had forgotten where the place was. So we headed for the nearest pizza place for a bite to eat. It was around 9pm but none of us could shake the hangover from the night before. After dinner we admitted defeat and sloped off back to the hotel.
