An afternoon off from work for a round at Los Moriscos with the Pro Karl Adams, Tony and Bob. Karl wanted to see if the swing changes were working on course. Apparently, my problem may be a lack of concentration in the studio, not having a real target to aim at.
The day started off promisingly. 1 under par for the first 4 holes. The birdie being a 2 on the par-3 146 metres hole 2. The wheels came off a bit on 5 and 6. Tee shot on 5 was perfect leaving a short 70 yard approach to the green guarded by a lake. The approach was short and ended up in the drink. Similar problems on 6, this time over-hitting a short approach. I need to control my sub 100 yard approach shots to the green.
The front nine finished with 40 strokes (19 points), 6 over par. Confidence was high but then the wheels really did come off. The old slice was back with a vengeance. Too many really bad holes including an 8 on the 13th, and 8 on the 15th (both par 5's) and a 7 on 16. Was I losing concentration? Or is it tiredness?
The round ended on a positive note with a good putt for par. The finish was 90 strokes (30 points). Hope for a better finish on Sunday.
