Day 8 - Railay sunset

After our exertions in the Kayak it was only fair that we had a few beers in our favourite bar. It has fabulous views of the beach and the surrounding karst cliffs. It is also a west-facing beach making it a perfect place to watch the sun go down.

The beach changes character as the sun starts to go down. The last of the die-hard sun worshippers pack up and head for home or the bar. The more active locals and holidaymakers replace them. They set-up football pitches with smaller than 5-aside nets. The volleyball net is pitched. A few other locals enjoy showing off their moves with the Frisbee. The different shades and colours in the sky attract a number of couples who enjoy the last minutes of sunlight by walking down the beach.

Sunset at Railay.

Beautiful colours reflecting off the sea.

It was a beautiful sight and well worth the risk of not catching the last boat home. The last boat is supposed to be at 6pm. However, other boats operate after this time for an extra 20 baht per person. We headed to the shore at around 6-30pm and had a short wait before sailing back to Ao Nang in the dark.
