Poker at H2O

Wintertime and one of our favourite pastimes is playing poker at H2O, mainly because it’s warmer than our house. Monica “Asso di Picche” Vianello was dishing out the punishment on her new laptop (when I finally managed to connect it to the network. Bloody Vista!!!).

Asso di Picche at work.

Monica’s poker game is improving fast. Her latest move was a classic show of reeling in the flush chaser. The table was incredibly loose. Already one sucker was knocked out and another barely alive and it was still only the second level. Monica held the cheap lead and was dealt AQ off-suit on the small blind. Not wanting to commit any chips on this loose table she decided to limp in. The big blind checked and three players saw the flop.

And what a flop for Monica. AQ on the flop gives her a “double couple”, as she likes to call them. Still, she saw the danger of a possible flush draw and knew that one of the fish might take a bite. She raises the pot and soon has a taker, the second chip leader. The other guy folds so its heads-up going to the turn.

Nice Flop!

The turn card comes and Monica is in 7th heaven. It’s a queen giving her the full house. All that beat her now were pocket aces. “He’s chasing the flush” Monica confidently declared and dismissed the pocket rocket threat. Would the other player still chase the flush? Monica decides to check and hope to suck him in. “Toon111” may sense the trap, as it is a weak bet of $30. Monica lets him wait a while before calling the bet. She wants to extract as much as possible for her monster hand.

The river comes and it’s the perfect card, a club making the flush. Does Toon111 have it? Monica thinks so and further more thinks Toon111 will bet big so she checks. I was unsure thinking that he would just call and see if he was being lead into an ambush. He went all-in and Monica quickly called. Cue whoops of delight that reverberated all around H2O when he showed his flush. Sucker!

Will he fall into the trap?

Busted!

Were you playing online or against other people in H20?
At least now I know if I were ever to play poker around town to keep an eye out for you two hustlers :D
The last time I played, which was about 2 years ago, most of the evening was spent arguing over which hand was the best our of flush, straight and full house.
Which shows my level of skill.

And I have to agree with how damn cold these apartments get. I haven't invested in a pair of slippers and my feet feel like they will fall off due to the freezing tiled floors all the time.

PS are you sure it isn't just a bad router you are having problems with?
In our house we have two laptops that our networked and wifi'd both with Vista and both working fine. So much so that the missus can watch movies saved on my laptop with her laptop without any problems.

Yes, we play over the Internet using Ladbrokes. A full house beats a flush. A flush beats a straight. However, a straight flush beats everything! Any time you want to play let me know. Bring your pennies!!!

Our place is North-West facing so doesn't get any Sun in winter. Its bloody freezing. You would think that we would benefit with it being cooler in the summer. Oh no, its boiling hot then!

Think the problem with the router was Vista. The laptop had been connected to the H2O network before with no problem. Suddenly it wouldn't work. Only thing I can think of is that they change the password regularly and Monica tried to connect without changing password. Going into "properties" and entering the new password wouldn't work. We had to reboot and then change password before connecting. Bloody Vista I hate it!!!
