The Entrance to the Arsenal
There has been an Arsenal in Venice for centuries, may be as early as the 8th Century. It was here that the Venetians developed there mass production techniques for ship building. Up to 16000 people worked here and could build a ship in a day. That was back in the 16th Century. The word "Arsenal" being synonymous with weapons and fire power was probably derived from this building.
