Cavana 5

Cavana 5 at night.

This is a new cafe bar in Plaza Cavana that quickly became one of our favourite places in Nerja. The first time we went was when it was newly opened. The place was empty and Miguel was working. Miguel owns "La Fuente" in Plaza Canterero near the bus station. He ended up telling us his plans for the new place and offering us a beer. A Cavana tradition that still continues to this day.

Another night out begins at Cavana 5.

The bar has old photos of Nerja hanging on the walls. Miguel told us where each one was taken. They really show how much Nerja has changed in a relative short period of time. The picture of Burriana Beach is unrecognisable to what it has become today.

The terrace at night.

There is a lovely Andalucian terrace at the back. It will be a real sun trap in summer. Its a shame that passers by cannot see the terrace as I am sure it would be a more popular place if everyone knew about the terrace.


Cavana 5 tapas.

Cavana 5 is not really a tapas bar. But that doesn't stop Africa from treating us every time we go. Some of her tapas creations are astounding, earning her title as the 3rd best chef in the world. She is also an obsessive cleaner. If she's not serving she's dusting the place down. Again. The best chef in the world? That would be Antonella, Monica's sister. Monica comes a close second!
